UniProt release 2016_03

UniProt release 2016_03 is now available, offering data on 63 590 399 proteins! This release of the knowledgebase includes an expertly curated reference proteome for the Zika virus, inspiring our latest headline article, "From the Zika forest to the Amazon, news from a viral wanderer".

We have added cross-references to the Encyclopedia of Proteome Dynamics (EPD), a resource containing data from multiple large-scale proteomics experiments. The EPD aims to characterise proteome dynamics in both human cells and model organisms.

You will also find cross-references to TopDownProteomics, a resource from the Consortium for Top Down Proteomics that hosts data presenting validated proteoforms.

This release of UniProt also features an enriched controlled vocabulary of human diseases.
