Summary

  • The European Union has awarded ten million euro to a consortium of 18 European research groups focusing on proteomics
  • Proteomics is the large-scale study of proteins and their role in living organisms
  • Proteomics can give researchers new insights on how biological systems work and the role they play in health

January 10, Cambridge – The European Union has awarded ten million euro to a consortium of 18 European research groups, including the Proteomics team at EMBL’s European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI). The project started on January 1, 2019, and will run for four years.

The consortium, called the European Proteomics Initiative Consortium (EPIC-XS) will support researchers by providing them with access to state of the art proteomics equipment.

This initiative is a follow-up of the previous European proteomics infrastructure project PRIME-XS, completed in 2015, in which EMBL-EBI also participated. EPIC-XS will again provide access to proteomics facilities throughout Europe, supporting and expanding the European proteomics community through its expertise in proteomics.
