Dear scientists and data users,

At EMBL-EBI, we see the life sciences data ecosystem as a global endeavour with millions of scientists, each playing a part. EMBL-EBI’s role is to provide some of the foundational infrastructure that allow them to do so. This includes reliable, integrated open data resources and analysis tools that help scientists push the boundaries of what is possible.

EMBL-EBI has worked with independent economic experts for over a decade to provide insight on the value of open data resources to the research community and wider global economy.

The time has come to continue this evaluation, conducted on a five-year cycle, in partnership with Frontier Economics.

To help us demonstrate the economic value of open data infrastructure in the life sciences, we need input from you – our user community. Please fill in our user survey, open until 24 July 2025.

Whether you use our resources every day or just once in a while, your feedback helps us illustrate the impact of our data resources to our funders, and guide further developments.

Thank you for taking the time to complete our survey.

Jo McEnture

EMBL-EBI Interim Director
